Truck owner here. And a transplant from frozen icy lands of the north. There are many of us from northern states that have experienced icy road conditions 6 months out of the year back “home”. We developed our driving skills as a necessity to get to work etc. Driving on icy roads are not fun for anyone. Us northerners give as much allowance to others as we can as we know many of you are not used to icy roads. Thus, more likely to make bad decisions when driving on icy roads. We don’t want to hit you and we don’t want you hitting us. To the inexperienced it may seem that we are being careless or even reckless. We know our abilities and know the capabilities of our vehicles. Yes, there are the occasional idiot drivers out there. I’m not talking about them. My experience driving around Springfield yesterday was actually positive. I did not observe drivers being overly careless. When the roads clear up that will change.

I just want some sidewalks, man. Walking through those big snow piles on the side of the road to cross over some ice is not fun.

New option: it's fucking freezing, and the heater doesn't get hot until I arrive at my destination.

Assuming you accurately know your own abilities, for every one of you there's 3 guys driving a truck twice the size of their ability to handle it on a clear day

If you want to up your driving game I would first recommend attending a defense driving class. This will help you improve your skill set. Been there done that…
