In case there's someone still out there who doesn't already know, it's going to get stupid cold: https://www.ky3.com/2022/12/19/first-alert-weather-winter-storm-watch-wind-chill-watch-issued-part-ozarks/
more churches have opened their doors as shelter for this upcoming winter storm. if you interact with anyone on the streets, please make sure they know where to go. here is more info https://www.facebook.com/1312079458938424/posts/pfbid029uCKhscn4Q3awgVLUgovDckshaYSvfcpKcPZA59FEk7SGVdTNYjKicyKFDY4PKGkl/?mibextid=UUgoR4
I don't Facebook
it’s so easy to click on the link and read the public post. i dont do fb either.
After watching a pedestrian almost get hit for the 300th time at that flashing lighted crosswalk on Glenstone by the Kearney Walmart, I am so fucking over this bullshit.
Springfield either needs to go hard in the fucking paint and put those lighted crosswalks all over town so drivers actually encounter them more often and know they need to stop.
Or… they need to scrap the whole goddamn thing and put up a push-button red-yellow-green stoplight on the crosswalk, like the one they used to have on National at MSU a million years ago.
There’s already been at least one pedestrian killed at this crosswalk since they put it in. It’s amazing there haven’t been more.
I would genuinely rather wait for a gap and sprint my skinny ass across all five lanes of Glenstone than take my chances with that death trap of a crosswalk.
People still didn’t stop at the stoplight crosswalk on national. Put down some fake tracks and a railroad crossing on north glenstone and people might start stopping for pedestrians.
Is it still like a push-button stoplight there? I had it in my head it was just a regular stoplight now. But I haven’t set foot there since it was SMSU.
The SUV/truck drivers here will probably blame it on 'dark clothing', but thats probably because they have never walked, biked, or ran in Springfield. I feel drivers go out of their way to try and hit people here. Springfield is hands down the worst city I have ever been in for pedestrians.
RANT: there needs to be an Amtrak line from Springfield to KC 😑
