Chances my arrival flight is cancelled?

I’m supposed to fly in on the morning of Friday the 23rd with a weather report saying a high (?!) of 8 and gusty. I’m from Texas, and this is simply too fucking cold for me to comprehend. I depart at an unholy early hour, and god-forbid a cancelled flight strand me at DFW.

Edit: Thanks for the insight, y’all! Many of us in Central Texas are still working through Winter Storm Uri PTSD, and I think the low grade weather anxiety plus holiday nuttiness has me overthinking a bit.

I’ve never seen flights delayed for cold out here. Snow yes but not cold.

The forecast for minimal…2” of snow here the 48 hrs before is pretty flip floppy. Cold has zero to deal with flights as airliners operate at up to -70 degrees at altitude.

2” of snow is not a problem for ground crews here, esp if day before.

The forecasted highs low for a couple days are more feb extremes here…but there is a huge bubble of cold air at the northern pole right now.

I follow a twitter user who talks about how the coincidence of super cold air in winter is preceded by a warm autumn…because the energy of the cold/dense air pulls in air from more southern latitudes to keep the dense ball of energy going. Seems counter intuitive of warm versus cold but air density is more scientifically used than temp.

We see temperature as degrees, but nature sees temperature and density. I saw another post elsewhere that talked about how much energy or lack there of was required to freeze things and keep them frozen. Very scientific but interesting based on how we normal humans view warm vs cold. Thanks for coming to my RedditX talk.

We don’t even fly with checked bags anymore into Springfield simply because the crew in Dallas loses it during the layover every single time.

Cold should not affect the flight. It may be a bouncy ride out with the wind.

Flights are almost never delayed because of Springfield. It's a tiny airport with 1 small concourse that barely gets used. If you see delays it's going to be something at DFW.

Flight delays seem to be more common than not, especially big airports like DFW or atl.

Honestly, with the size of the storm system, my flight might get cancelled as other flights have to be re-routed.
