Likely a loose connection in one of the switches or light fixtures. A lot of older houses in this area have a general lighting circuit and the furnace pilot/blower will be tapped off of it. Thermostat will go down if the transformer on the furnace goes out.

I wanted to say that too but thought it might confuse them for me to speculate.

And wow I always put the furnace and appliances on their own circuit. Fridge circuit for the fridge. Furnace for the furnace. Stove for the stove. Tying the lights into that breaker? Why? Is it possible to daisy chain with different types of wire? Or am I just imagining something weird. The furnace would be 12-2 but we run lights in 14-2 or 14-3. Do they put them pn the same breaker at the panel or literally run a wire from the furnace to the switch??? Like furnace home run, carrier to the switch, 3 wires in the first switch receptacle (power, carrier, switch leg)?

Sorry got a tooth extracted and I'm pretty mentally exhausted
