There is a couple of things that come to mind as possible sources.

  1. It could be the sewer treatment plant smell is just traveling further due to the colder weather. (During winter or cold weather sounds and smells seem to travel further)

  2. In the fall time we often get a stink in the air due to farmers using certain animal poo on their fields (pigs, cows, chickens).

It’s the shit! From the wastewater treatment facility at James River freeway and FF. It smelled fucking awful this morning. Just think about all of those houses around there than just have to wake up to that five times a week.

I have walked on scenic to go to chesterfield Park and I often smelled that sewer smell there. I think it came from the storm sewer

My husband says he smelt something like raw sewage near Republic and Charleston as well.
