I was doing research today for the election tomorrow (Nixa). Almost all of our state/county office elections only have one option, all Republicans. Does anyone know of any viable write-in candidates that I could put down? I was tempted to write in joke candidates, but I would rather put someone who really should be in the running! Thanks for your advice!
Please don't write in any name unless you know the person has been running a "write in" campaign. I have been an election judge in the past, and the number of ballots with write in names (especially joke names such as Santa) was infuriating. It made a long day much longer since we have to manually tabulate every write in vote.
It's better just to leave it blank if you don't want to vote for anyone that is on the ballot.

Based on wording of the post, I’d assume republican is the only reason and OP knows nothing about the candidates.
That being said, regardless of R or D, if there’s only one candidate and you don’t like them, just leave it blank. You’re doing nothing by writing in a vote for Gil Gunderson.
It depends on the candidate, of course! But also, it's nice to have options in an election, so that we can choose who we believe to be the best person for the job, and 2/3 of the current candidates are the only options.

Perhaps you are right and I should not have specified the party, even though what I said was correct. The fact that I mentioned I was doing research on the candidates and amendments prior to voting should have clued you in that I have looked at their stance on the issues. But I know talking about politics online puts everyone's back up, so it's all good. Now you know!
Yes you did say you were doing research….and your only option was republicans. I don’t care who you vote for, that’s any individual’s own prerogative. It just irks me when someone immediately discounts a candidate because of their political party alone. Maybe that’s not what you meant to sound like, just seemed that way.
I think they have to get a certain number or percentage of votes to actually win. Write in anyone, or like in years past - deez nuts.

I voted Nov 2nd and noticed this problem too next elections if another R is running unopposed I am going to run against them and walk around the College campuses handing out booklets I'll be printing off and stapling.

I love it! I hate the whole two party system and how it narrows our choices! It would be wonderful to see 6 viable candidates with different views for each position. But I know that is never likely to happen!

I'll be running as independent. As long as a dem isn't running in that spot people will at least he able to choose between I and R
