I didn't look tonight, but usually it's a T-1A Jayhawk from Vance AFB in Oklahoma.

Aviation enthusiast here…that distinct whistling is the T1-A…they had two doing night hours tonight.
If you ever want to know what 99% of planes overhead are go to www.globe.adsbexchange.com. They don’t filter out military (fighters are rarely seen) or LADD opt out biz jets…FR24 and others filter that out. VANDY is there normal call sign from Vance if a T1.
We actually get a surprising amount of military traffic here…rarely fighters/bombers but I did see a 767 variant refueler for the first time ever this past week…at about 2000’ over town.

That's exactly what it was except it was out of Bentonville tonight.

XNA is is another frequent pattern practice place for T-1s. XNA and SGF provide enough traffic to be realistic scenarios with other traffic and also legit approach glide slopes and some more technical stuff. They frequently do a flew laps at at SGF/XNA/TUL/OKC/ICT and move onto another field mentioned and maybe a third. Most all here are out of Vance but you will get a random outlier for T-1s every now and again.

Springfield also has a VORTAC for military TACAN approaches.
