This is just more ranting about an old subject, but the motorcycle scene in Springfield is annoying. I typically drive by the Eagle Stop on Battlefield at least twice a day, and if it's after dark there's always dozens of them.

Tonight, when I was driving by, there was one doing a wheelie down Battlefield while some others were completely blacked out, running through the red light at Battlefield and Kimbrough as a group while traffic had to sit and wait.

And, of course, couldn't find a license plate in the group because, why would you if the SPD isn't allowed to chase you?

They're almost impossible to catch, easy to injury or kill if the bike contacts the cruiser and the bike becomes a missile if/when the idiot wipes out. Basically, cops don't chase motorcycles because it's difficult and dangerous.

Yeah, this. Most cities now won't chase motorcycles because they're too fast to catch and if you do chase them, they end up splatting into something.

So, I get the police department's reasoning. But, they know they can't be chased, so they have no reason to get a valid license, plates, insurance, or follow any traffic laws.

However, when one of them eventually does become a meat marker, I'm supposed to feel all sad even though they traumatized the family they ran into and straddled them with a bunch of bills to pay because they don't have insurance.
