I came across this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/yb3wh2/til_richard_berry_the_original_composer_of_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

It reminded me of a station around 1990 that for a few days before it launched played every version of Louie Louie with no commercials or announcements.

Just tickled my memory and wounded if anyone else was around back then and remembers it.

There was also another station around the same time that before it launched it had a computer voice counting down til their programming started.

We were just talking about old radio stations at work. What I remember was 1993 or 1994, and the station was Bee95. The new buzz in the Ozarks. After the Louis Louis marathon they played classic rock format.

Wasn't it an April fools joke? I'm wanting to say US 97 or the old Rock 99

Louie Louie marathon was when 104.7 or 104.1 was going out. It was an indie station playing like college alt rock. They lost funding or closed or whatever and played that song their last weekend. Maybe the station's name had to do with the weather? This is going to bug me all day.

It was Oldies 105.1 KOSP for Louie Louie.

The countdown one was My Country 100.1 KOMC.

I'm pretty sure this is the right answer. I had recorded part of the broadcast to cassette tape at the time. Oldies 105.1 wasn't my type of music after the Louie Louie thing ended, but it was a pretty cool way to start out.
