Saw a brush fire going north on 160 today towards Springfield around 2:00. There's a red flag warning due to things being so dangerous for fire conditions. Be careful out there and do your part to be safe. The grass is dry and crunchy along with all the dry leaves falling from trees. Lots of fuel around that could lead to big problems.

I got a smoke warning and notice that there were evacuations, and I thought that was crazy. But, the report didn't say where, so thanks for the update1

I saw a mobile marquee sign set up on the side of I-44 between Spfld & Joplin the other day that said "Dangerously Dry. Keep your cigarettes in your car." A handful of miles later I noticed a huge burn patch in the median.

How long has it been since we got an actual day of rain? Feels like 6 months or more.

I wasn't actually here last weekend so it could have. But my house on the north side has been dry forever, barring a few light sprinklings about once a month. The ground has cracks in it.

I still, once every year or so, see a red flag warning and wonder where the fuck the waves are dangerous in Missouri. Growing up on the gulf coast it was sodden two thirds to three quarters of the year, but we got daily beach safety updates!
