St. Louis has so many specialists and providing the best care for your daughter is the best option if you can afford it IMO

edit: op has a daughter not a son (i can’t read apparently)

She's disabled so money isn't the issue, save for whether I'll have job when I come back, but that's neither here nor there.

Unfortunately, yes, you have to be with your employer for 12 months. Talk to your HR, you may be to take unpaid leave.
