If you're looking to do something drastically different than what you have, I say it's worth it. If you're going for a touch-up, go elsewhere.

One thing I will say is to avoid Indie Blue Salon like the Plague.

They completely butchered my curly hair yesterday and I'm now left with no choice but to wait until it grows back. I'm going to get a refund today because it straight-up looks like a 10 year old did it. It's a salon for straight-haired people that swears they can also do curly hair but they end up ruining your entire head. I asked for a curly bob and left looking like Lord Farquaad.

For trims and minor touch-ups, I'd recommend La Luna Hair Academy.

I went once for what I expected to be a higher tier cut than what I'd get at a supercuts. While the wash was nice, the straight hair cut was just fine. No different, still about 10 minutes. I kind of figured but still hoped I'd have a better cut, but I feel there's probably not much that can be done with a long straight cut.

However, what ruined my experience was that I told them I don't like to use product or heat on my hair because my scalp is sensitive. The hairdresser burned the ever living shit out of my scalp because she blow dried my hair longer than it took to cut. I tried having her stop after about 5 minutes straight, but she said the middle/ends were still damp and she wanted them dry to check evenness. Then continued to pass the blow dryer over my scalp. Dealt with that scalp damage for over a week until the tingling and sensitivity subsided. At home, my hair takes no more than 5 minutes to dry, and I'm able to constantly keep the heat moving so I'm not concentrating in one area.

Hair cut was like $70 with tip because it was a long cut or something. I think, like most high-end salons, they prioritize color treatments over regular cuts.

I'm right there with you, and not even because of a sensitive scalp.

I'm a guy with long hair, and I follow the advice of Fabio, the man with the best hair of the 20th century: Eat lots of protein, pick a shampoo without a bunch of extra chemicals, use conditioner sparingly, and never blow-dry or use product.

I tried calling La Luna a few different times to schedule an appointment after hearing good things. They asked me a bunch of questions about my hair type and so on, and told me they'd have to have someone call me another day to schedule. Never received a call back, and was told the same thing every time I tried to phone them. I have extremely coarse, dense 2c/3a hair, so idk if it was related to my hair type or what, but it put a bad taste in my mouth. I only saw white girls with perfect shiny smooth hair on their site, so I assumed it was because I wasn't their "ideal" client type/aesthetic lol

I only go to LaLuna from now. I’ve get the best curly hair trims ever from LaLuna. I’ve never had that happen before with scheduling an appointment…so sorry!

Fellow curly girl here. I wanted something totally different for me (something shaggy with bangs) and I just saw Lindsay/Lamb Chops. She’s inside Coco Noir Salon. It was the best hair experience I’ve ever had and I actually left the salon feeling cute as hell! She could definitely fix your bob to be…less Farquaad’y. Lol. If you’re not into that shaggy thing, I will say Kira at Wenzel Salon is wonderful with curls. It’s definitely a science to her and she’ll ask you lots of questions to make sure you get what you want.

I used to go to IndieBlue…but then they ruined my hair color and still chose to charge me close to $300. They told me they couldn’t do my hair the color I wanted. We settled on a color close, then it still turned out awful. I stayed til 9pm (my appointment was scheduled for 5pm) after they asked if I could come back the next day to fix it but I said I was not leaving until it was fixed. It still did not turn out the way I wanted and expected them to at least take some of the price off.
