Are there any places like that around Springfield or the Branson area? Farthest I can go is an hour any direction. Would prefer a place to pay to dig so I'm not trespassing.

Natural history museum on the south side of town has a place you can do that, also the little museum is pretty neat.
I didn't know they did digging. That's awesome! I love that place.
Stockton MO North of Springfield has a lot of quartz. Go a few miles North of Stockton and scout along dirt road cuts. There are quartz nodules and some geodes. Look for white rocks in the ditches
More scavenging than digging honestly 😅
Or any creek bed, just look down.
mt ida arkansas has a pay to dig site. it may be further than you want to go though.
Busiek is nice and you can find fossils all day. Just walk along the creek and pick away

W e have found cool rocks along the creek bed at lost hill park
Hey. I wouldn't recommend this please! It's still disturbing the habitat. You're taking cover away from those lizards you like. Besides being illegal.

You can get some cool fossils from a lot of the roadside bluffs along highway 65 and other highways that have been blasted open. But that's about all I can think of.
