The Seahawks were the 7th seed so the expanded playoffs have no bearing on the stat.

It completely changed the seeding.

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly. Did it used to be 1 seed and 2 seed get byes? For some reason I thought 1 played 6.

You're right that back when it was six teams the #1 and #2 seeds got byes. Now only the #1 seed gets the bye. So this year's seeding would have worked out as Eagles at #1 get a bye. Then SF (#2) plays Seattle (#7). #3 Vikings play #6 Giants, #4 TB get #5 Cowboys. This got the three NFC east teams into the Divisional. I think the same games #3 through #6 would have been played with the old format.

So the #1 Eagles and #2 Niners would've had the bye, Seahawks don't get in. Matchups still would've been #3 Vikings hosting #6 Giants, and #4 Bucs hosting #5 Cowboys. Things would've been EXACTLY the same going into the divisional round in the old format.
