Kudos to them for thanking the actual people who did the hard work of saving his life rather than some supreme being. Prayers are fine, but first responders and trained medical personnel are so much more useful.

My approach: I thank God for the medical professionals and other personnel who were involved in saving his or others life. Ain’t nothing wrong with thanking everything and everyone especially in life or death situations.
