Actual terf or just had a different opinion on trans women competing in sports to some.

I see a lot of female athletes being called slurs like "terf" for some pretty nuanced and balanced opinions these days so I feel the need to ask.

Yeah, the first vid they included lower in this thread is just Martina saying that trans women have a physical advantage over natural (or “born” women? Not sure the correct term) women. She is only talking about fairness in sports, which is something society is still figuring out.

That’s not being a TERF imo.

She has been public about it in the past multiple times but because she was seen as a sports feminist icon her views really began to overshadow her legacy and she basically learned to keep quiet about it for a long time now. There should be results if you just Google it going back around a decade or less.

Sorry I didn't want to hijack this thread and definitely don't want to wish her any harm and hope for the best outcome but she has come out against trans women in sports (whereas Billy Jean King has offered her support for trans women in sport)

I watched just the first vid, but what she said there doesn’t make her a TERF. She’s talking about physical fairness in sports, and that’s an issue that hasn’t been fully addressed yet.

I too am not saddened by proud bigots getting bad news. That being said, I hope she recognizes the same science that is responsible for the medical treatments she is going to receive also validates gender identity and trans women.

Anyways. As a young tennis enthusiast she was inspirational to me and she had to go ruin that. Now i could care less about her.
