Lol, nope! Might be better than the current QB’s of the Texans, but not enough so to warrant the additional cost in drama and cap space.

He's not better than Dalton or Brady. Probably not better than Jameis, Darnold, or Mariota. He's PJ Walker level.

I'm not a fan of Newton. However, I can understand him saying this. The man wants to play and I can give him a pass for trying to build up his image.

Having said that, I'm a Saints fan and there is no way I want him.

Lol. He’s gotta be high. Sorry, Cam, you’re nowhere near as good as Brady.

CRoseCrizzle t1_izcqz3u wrote

The guy hasn't come to terms that he's not nearly as good as he used to be. He's always been super confident as a pro and that doesn't go away easily.

He is certainly better than at least one of the recently run out of the NFC South QBs.

I could see him doing the Taysom Hill thing (not that he'd settle for that). No questions about his athleticism.

Not even Carolina, he tried that, didn't work. He needs to realize when it's over, bruh, it's over.

He would be playing if that were true.

That last game was such a shit show. I nearly turned it off because it was boring. Both teams offense were sputtering. The biggest plays were on PIs and turnovers resulted in barely any points iirc.

But its Brady so who knows. Maybe there's a little magic left. So I kept watching...

And sure as shit there was some magic left.

That ending. Those last hurried up drives. The defence stepping up at the perfect moment to close out the Saints. The holding penalty cancelling the first touchdown pass. Back 10yrds do it again. Pass to the rookie short of the line, he turns, he pushes, and crosses the line perfectly before a knee touches. Just....damn.

Point after kick is up...its good...and wow. Ridiculous comeback.

A garbage game for about 90% of the game the finished off with absolute fkn magic.

He said, wearing da Vinci's Mona Lisa as a print on his Gucci sneakers. His face mask featured the Sistine Chapel as interpreted by Kanye West and Jesus Christ. His top was a frock by the Pope. Not this Pope, but the most popular Pope. Cam doesn't grovel for fashion. Don't ask about his undergarments, your peasant ass can't afford them

Biggest game of his life and he’s not willing to lay it all on the line to win. His post game outfits support the theory he was too concerned with his image and not hungry enough to do whatever it takes to win.

I always liked Fitz. It’s a shame he never found a real home, I’m convinced that he could’ve been up there with Brees and Rivers. Not Brady or Manning good, mind you, but good enough to be a franchise guy if he was in the right system.

Realistically... you are probably right. Throw current cam back into college games and he can probably still get 2,000 yard seasons (lower competition) but could still have a sub 60% completion percentage, low number of TDs, and a high number of INTs.

Basically a worse Anthony Richardson without the youth or potential.

Tom Brady is the only decent quarterback in the South, and that’s obviously not what he’s saying. He’s claiming he’s on par with Marcus Mariota, PJ Walker, and washed Andy Dalton, which I personally don’t think is impossible because those guys fucking suck

Samwise_CXVII t1_ize60re wrote

Never count him out. Brady is unbelievable.

But for as great as Brady is, Joe Buck and Troy Aickman are that terrible at being commentators. They’re so boring, so negative, so monotone…they sound too similar, never have anything even half-way astute to say, and Joe Buck’s humor comes across so douchey. Leave it to ESPN to have these roobs in their employ

The year where Brady was suspended for deflate gate, I drafted Cam Newton like 2nd or 3rd overall and picked up Brady on the 6th or 7th round. I traded Newton before Brady was even back.

lenchoreddit t1_ize91jf wrote

“Prime” cam had a crazy running game, a great defense and A LOT of press hype. He was never a great QB. THE one and ONLY year he was good he managed not to get in the way of a good team. Yes he was better than the scrap of the south, but is that saying much.

Mr_Strol t1_ize92ry wrote

MVP doesn’t mean better. It often goes to the QB from the team with the most wins. Carson Wentz was the runaway MVP favorite one year before injury.

1

Mr_Strol t1_izejk2d wrote

Tom Brady lead the NFL in passing TDs in 2015 and had a MUCH better showing in AFC title game against Denver then Cam did in the Bowl. All Cam did that year was rack up rushing TDs in the worst division in football.

Tom was still better. But Carolina had more wins as a team. Cam got the award.

Taysom is nice. But i am weary as he’s past 30yo serving as RB. Overall, glad to have him as a backup of the backup.

Cam? Drama and he’s way past 30. Taysom plays with GRIT and can serve as RB, QB, WR, defensive specialist, etc.
