Fun fact. The Timberwolves have the lowest franchise winning percentage of any team that has existed for more than two seasons. Other than the Seattle Kraken, who have played 90 games as a franchise, the Wolves are the only team with a total winning percentage below 0.400. As a resident of a city full of hopeless teams, the Wolves are the hoplessest.

Ironically that was the last season for the Vancouver Grizzlies. They had a winning percentage of .280 that season, the highest in their franchise’s history.

Yeah I’ve always suspected guys brag about being fans of loser franchises because they use that in lieu of a personality, they like being able to have a “unique” position as sports fans lmao it’s so stupid, I’ll never understand loyally supporting loser teams whose owners and front office are greedy or inept leading to being a bad team, why go to games when buy merch and give them your money? Just to act like you’re an interesting person, seems like you’re a loser twice over

The Knicks and Oakland A’s are the best example of this, James Dolan makes so much money as the Knicks owner and yet that team is routinely trash, it’s not competitive and it’s embarrassing to be a fan, Dolan doesn’t care about making less profits to build a contender, same goes for the A’s, fans talk about how they lose all of their players to bigger teams, but they lose them because the billionaire owner doesn’t pay them to stay, there’s no admiration or respectability in being a fan of that

I grew up in western PA and would see Pirates jerseys where I moved. It usually started if anything, brief conversation where they were from. Because nobody outside of western PA and maybe northern WV would be rooting for them, let alone wear a shirt or hat.

I’m a Washington commander’s fan. My comparison is like holding onto a stock that once performed well, tanked, and you’re waiting for it to rally. That way I can tell people “told you so” if they ever come back and win. In reality I would break an unwritten man rule if I switch teams aka bandwagon. I certainly don’t believe it’s to stand out. Hopefully they will win a super bowl again in my lifetime.
