They were humiliated somewhat by a mob of their competitors when the fish were being cut open. First minute of this video shows it pretty well. One stood there and took it, the other one ran and locked himself in his car.

I completely get the attempted Grand theft and other charges, but I never knew cheating was a felony offense

lol, prison time... there would be a lot of MLB pitchers in jail because they were using foreign substances on the baseball if that was the consequence of cheeting.

It's literally theft. There's a lot of money to be won at these tournaments and the entry fees can be hundreds of dollars. Last year they won a boat and trailer worth over 100K... They would have pocketed almost 30K this time if they hadn't been caught.
