NASA committed to working with Von Braun because he was a rocket expert. They just took care to not ask too many questions about Von Braun’s resume

Yes. But countries don't have morals. They have interests.

Countries or space agencies aren't moral agents, only the people who run them are. And the people at NASA who have decided to continue the agency's cooperation with Russia are morally bankrupt.
