Why are the 18 diffraction spikes on the bright stars. I understand diffraction spikes, but 18?

edit: nevermind. Probably due to 9-blade irised aperture of the camera lens.

Saw the Horse Head nebula just once with my 12.5” dob reflector. Seeing was exceptional; seeing IT was memorable. My eyes are too old now and my big light bucket has gone, so thanks for posting.

That's crazy I've never even tried to see it visually I figured it's not even worth trying lol. I'll have to give it a shot on a night with good seeing through my dob.
