Nothing. It would cause a mass panic if people really believed that there could be an alien invasion every time a ufo was spotted.

Nothing. This isn't something we need to think about or consider at all until there is even one bit of objective evidence that extra-terrestrials have visited Earth.

It's just a waste of time.

For starters I don’t really think aliens are visiting earth or some government coverup. But if there was then they’d be held as accountable as they do for every other secret they keep from the public, which is not at all.

Um, nothing? And I hate to burst your bubble, but there is no "reveal themselves" in this reality.

IF intelligent ETs exist or have ever existed, it's very likely we won't know, as a species, for several more centuries. If not a few millennia.

And the idea that governments could keep that knowledge under wraps, globally and for the last century or two of looking out into space is just some premium grade X-Files fiction.

I agree with most responses here, firstly, i don't believe the government is hiding objective proof of aliens, but if they were, then it makes sense for that information to be mega classified. It would cause mass panic if released. If aliens could make the journey from their planet to ours, we'd have more pressing issues to deal with besides punishing the government.
