Kia Ora fam,
I spent the last weekend during the new moon on a beach an hour away from home. This is my first time really giving Orion and Barnard's loop a try and I'm quite pleased with the results.
The Wairarapa is one of the largest dark sky reserves in the world and I'm so grateful to live only an hour drive from these kinds of skies. Unfortunately we don't see these colours with our eyes because they suck and fortunately I have an astro modified Nikon Z6 to get these details.

When you get old (and from the Northern H.) it’s hard to identify all those new stellar configurations.

Not quite so colorful to the naked eye. But if you haven't ever been at a fully dark site, having let the eyes dark adapt, you're in for a wondrous sight. This web page might give some idea of what to expect.

So.. i’m very unfamiliar with the southern sky, could someone make a list of the objects we see in this picture?

Nothing unfamiliar here. This is Orion, just "upside down" to what you're used to looking at. Our Orion is cool and does handstands.
