Necropsy tends to be used when referring to animals, when I've read something regarding an autopsy on an animal, it's always corrected to necropsy. Maybe it's a pedantic thing by the authors.

Alien autopsy is already a well established term. And itβs hosted by Jonathan Frakes!
You ain't wrong. I'm running a sci-fi game for some friends and they will be finding alien bodies soon, if they follow the plot hook. I was just wondering if there was an "official" term for this imaginary procedure.
Imaginary!? You gotta watch that show. Jonathan Frakes!
If aliens have visible mass-based bodies then Autopsy.
Because the word means "seeing with ones own eyes". So applicable for any being's body.
If they are energy-based entities then that opens up a whole new can of worms.
Wait, can we go back to the start of the energy people?
Where are they from? How do they achieve can opening? I have questions.

Probably xentopsy or xenotopsy following your logic, although I suspect in practice we'd just say autopsy.

UAPs display capabilities that we can't even begin to understand how they're possible, so I think I'd call mutilation of an alien corpse "suicidal."

If I'm not mistaken, necropsy and autopsy are synonyms, and neither are unique to the species, etc. So, an autopsy or necropsy applies to aliens as well.
