Unfortunate choice of adjectives. There are actually many sources of periodic bursts in the universe. "heartbeat-like" implies it originates from a sentient source.

I think someone was trying to gain clicks with the article title and I just left it unchanged. The actual paper is entitled Microwave imaging of quasi-periodic pulsations at flare current sheet. That’s not quite so catchy though.

It really doesn't, though. "Heartbeat-like" is used to describe a plehtora of vibrational patterns that have the iconic "heartbeat" pattern.

Don’t listen to this guy. He’s the source of the heartbeat and infiltrated Reddit to divert us.

I've used "heartbeat" to describe a signal before that wasn't intended to mean sentient. Many of these space articles do publish very dramatic titles either way.

In CS a "heartbeat" is a periodical signal that is sent to confirm that a process is still running.

I too don't like the clickbait nature of the title. But then again, back in 70's the discovery of pulsar was initially coined as Little Green Men. So dumbing down and stoking interest for the masses do help research as they provide more visibility and funding.
Let's see where this leads.
