I just used it to write the copy for three upcoming product launches, what would normally take half a day took 30 mins.

It took some trial and error to get the right tone from it, but I could see that being much quicker in future iterations.

The good news is your inputs and trials will be used to its ability to comprehend similar situations later

I recently used it to do a full day of research on a specific AI topic in 2 hours. It also dumbed down its explanations so that they were super easy to follow. Even generated code snippets and walked me through the logic. It’s very useful for work already and it’s just a free preview running on GPT-3 (2020 tech). Fully finished product powered by GPT-4 will be insane.

What's going on? I am just clueless where the future is going. Is there a skill i can learn to earn a little my job is very boring and after 10 years of doing a desk job my Electrical engineering seems paper weight.

I understand that the general impression of ChatGPT is that it is an "immediate danger" that may cause people to be partially or completely replaced in some jobs, but this negative view is far from its main ramifications. The main implication of the proliferation of ChatGPT and similar language paradigms, which I am most excited about, is its ability to "maximize individual impact."

What I mean by this is that it will give individuals - those who are really talented, as well as those with a desire to learn - an exceptional ability to complete projects on their own that in the past required a whole team. ChatGPT is a "multidisciplinary team" that an individual can use on their own adventures, so instead of waiting for a team to build up to test a startup idea, He can do it on his own. This represents a Paradigm Shift. The inevitable result of this is a new era in which knowledge 'breadth' takes precedence over depth, and understanding the 'big picture' takes priority over focus on detail.

In other words, the rise of the Generalists at the expense of the Specialists, whose role will be played by ChatGPT and similar models that will come later.

Everyone is spinning around giddy with ChatGPT

I'd honestly not get too attached to relying on this thing when you don't know how much it will cost.
Charges to use previous models is no indication of how much this will cost as it seems to have some sort of memory.

Edit: Remember, Dalle2 where generations went from free to 'taking the piss' and it was not until several competitors came on the scene that they changed how much it cost.

Everyone and their dog is making large models. Well, everyone who can build and train multimillion dollar models which is like 6 companies. The point is, it’s going to be intense competition. People can smell the future money, and that means it’s going to be very cheap or free for a long while as the dominant player emerges. As this is a platform play, there probably isn’t room for more than a couple winners in this market.

Realistically it will be paid in tiers. I need ChatGPT now, I want to pay. Right now it is too slow. I want to pay for a fast version.

Computational efficiency is going to get improved so that it wouldn't be that expensive eventually. Oversized models lead to risks of overlearning and parroting

ChatGPT won't automate all of the jobs, but GPT-4 will probably automate some of them.
