I'm thinking that as society dissolves, so does government. And borders.
I guess what I'm imagining is that we generally all check out from day to day reality and relationships. That's we don't leave our synthetic realms, and the core operations of the required systems just continue. The Matrix, though hopefully much better.

Since government's wealth is public's wealth, if the government is disolved we should redistribute equally all resources like a sort of citizen's inheritance. Obviously only an AI could do this in a fair way. I like to imagine the world made up of billions of private tiny communities that trade and communicate on a decentralized network while things are managed on a macroscale by an independent and benevolent ASI (stuff like raw materials/energy production and police/military/justice, etc). That would be one of the best case scenario.
