NOOoooo. The Malaysian Ramen is my go to comfort food when I’m sick!!!
The RVA mag Instagram page called them out this morning for a definitive answer which was an odd move
Agreed. Awkward and unprofessional
I don't love that for us.
They're awkward and unprofessional in general. run by some real man children
Byeeeeeee
I work at foo. Been here 5 years
I just want to get ahead of rumors and say the official announcement is coming today
Please don’t say that the staff is staying with the new owner. I don’t know where that info came from. It’s been an incredibly difficult week for some of us and the last thing I or my coworkers need to see is people talking about us with incorrect info
Edit: the new owner said on fb the staff and menu is the same
No one has officially asked us if we want to stay but I guess they can serve the food if they want.
Is the Ramen Spot on Grace not good? Never been, just seen the name.
I like that place, the Ramen is solid
e: It's not ramen tetsu ya, but I've ordered several times and never had a bad experience, some of these sound like one offs or people not realizing what they were ordering.
I’ve eaten there twice and enjoyed it both times but I’m far from a ramen connoisseur so I have no idea how it stacks up with other spots. Service was fast, it was warm and tasty so no complaints.
The Jasper folks are opening one in Church Hill (https://richmondmagazine.com/restaurants-in-richmond/food-news/when-the-broth-hits-the-lips/) I think they've had pop ups in the past, but no direct experience with how it was then.
Tenka is very good. I wish the servings were bigger but it's the closest I've had around here to what I had in Japan.
Tenka downtown is great - they just have weird hours. Aforementioned Ramen Spot on grace is decent, but my favorite is Takara out on broad near sam's club. I wish it was in the city, but it's worth the drive. The new spot opening in church hill should be good. I had it when they were doing pop ups at the jasper during COVID, and the tonkotsu was pretty banging, just interested to see how they flesh out the rest of the menu.
Richmond just isn't ready for a real ramen spot; rip Ejay Rin.
When are they like, actually open??
IDK I used to go when I worked downtown but I haven't been in years.
Takara was alright. I should give them another try. And yes tenka has weird hours.
Regarding your edit: Does the new owner intend to keep running it as Foo Dog?? I feel like im seeing 5 different things online about this.
New name, probably very similar menu and vibe
Potential to move to his payroll but that’s literally all we were told by our current ownership. I found out about the menu via Facebook from the owner himself.
Staff being divided to other EAT stores if they want. I just don’t want to lose foo or my close coworkers. Sucks a lot.
Ah I see, well I’m sorry about all the instability and uncertainty this is causing you and the other staff members.
Real not good, bland
That place is terrible. Went there one time and the ramen I purchased had Philly Cheesesteak style meat and it was missing obvious ramen ingredients. Highly recommend not going there.
Takara was way below Tenka in my opinion. Tenka was great for lunch when I had to be downtown.
Really weird circumstance
Shit Foo Dog, PBR, and BB&B are their top 3... close Fat Dragon damnit

Whaaat.. I just went there, the food and the beer on draft was fantastic.
that is super weird! it’s something to write a story about things and all, to get your facts right and from the source but that pestering bullshit loses the reason you do your job, i feel like anyways 🤷🏻♀️
Anyone know the recipe for the Malaysian ramen??? I need it in my life still
NOOOOO I was hoping I could go there when I visited again 😞
Between 11:32am and 3:06pm every 2nd Tuesday of the month
RVA mag being Real
But Fat Dragon has the best dumplings! I don't order anything else there, but I'll order their dumplings and save the sauce to make my own spicy ramen. So good.
If anyone knows how I can make the Malaysian ramen and bao lmk
Why close fat dragon it's kind of decent American Chinese food. And every once in a while that hits the spot
I think one of the other eat restaurants does it
I agree with your sentiment - but there is a new ramen shop opening up in Church Hill soon 🤞🏽
this almost made me spit out my coffee
I’ve never been and always wanted to check out and support, my partner and I will make it a point to come in and do that this week. So sorry to hear this for y’all from another food and bev person ❤️
I’m so sad 😭
Thank you. The family aspect is crazy and I cared a lot about the place. ❤️
I’ve been following Katie on Tiktok for a while now have been dying to get a crazy drink made by them. We’ll be in soon!
Man this sucks, one of my friends been bartending there for years and she really likes it there.
But... I always go for the Malaysian ramen, great food for post sickness, any chance someone will release the recipe? 👉👈
