Obviously you have options on where to get weed. I’m just glad that VA even allows dispensaries to sell medical cannabis bc you have to start somewhere…. This is Virginia after all.
Helpoponics t1_iudbnp5 wrote
If by starting somewhere you mean the State has given 5 licenses out to 5 separate companies to have a monopoly over the state until 2024. It gets better though, Columbia Care got the Beach region and then bought gLeaf last year, meaning Columbia Care owns ALL sales from RVA to the VB.
The only thing they did that was remotely in the right direction was allowing personal grows at home with no cap on how much you are allowed to possess in your home.
hazyrva t1_iudby4d wrote
That true, it’s definitely a step in the right direction but I just hate how’s they are making it like ABC stores, just a monopoly instead of letting craft brands do their thing and have more of a variety

Gleaf is predatory and monopolistic

If you get a card, can you make your health insurance buy your pot?
augie_wartooth t1_iuczxw1 wrote
If it’s not on their drug formulary, no. And for most insurance, it probably isn’t.

No

I'm glad this was posted, because it might answer a question that some friends and I had at dinner (And I am too lazy/Don't care enough to look up:
Does the card do anything for you in regard to employment? If you are a cop, construction worker, delivery driver, etc.; Are you in the clear when you fail a random THC test?
I'm saying no, because it is the insurance companies that are driving that bus, and not the company/Government.
GrizzlyPuffz t1_iubfcaz wrote
An employer can decide to be cool with it, but it can also decide to not be cool with with because it’s still federally illegal. Also, yes anything regarding driving will require a piss test.
I was straight up with my last job and they gave me time to get clean. I also know the same company allowed another employee to fail a test.

Law enforcement officers are subject to federal guidelines so they still are subject to THC testing.

I think it just depends, for example if a job does random drug testing like nurses or drivers, they probably wouldn’t care if you have a certification or not. I believe in VA you can’t be fired if you have a doctor’s certificate, but don’t quote me on that.
Freseper t1_iuc0asb wrote
I handle drug test paperwork at work. The test is read by an MRO, a third party physician. If it is positive, they contact the donor to find out if there are any acceptable reasons for the positive test, like a prescribed medication. If so, the positive result is delivered to me as a negative. As I understand it MRO’s are federally licensed and do not accept medical cards as a justification.
ChiliTrees t1_iubd84o wrote
(I think) There are some jobs you can still get fired from where it’s a safety matter, such as a forklift driver (idk why that was my first thought). It’s still illegal federally so you can technically still get fired for it. Please correct me if wrong.

Do they have a web site?

Their menu is exactly like Gleafs. They are even running the same deal as gleaf currently.
mariaantipasta t1_iudailr wrote
Well that makes sense since gLeaf is the only dispensary allowed to operate in the central VA region.
DeviantAnthro t1_iudd1rd wrote
Even better than that... I just finished harvesting my last three plants of the season.
FYI: I highly recommend washing your product before you dry if you grow outside, you won't believe how dirty the first bucket gets, or what lives inside your plants.
hazyrva t1_iubteho wrote
If it’s Gleaf, they get dragged by the local cannabis community. Overpriced, dry weed, just like a state run dispensary. If you are looking for medicine I’d just hit up homegrown or happy trees for events they host to trade for something way more worth it
