'nuff said.
Pocahontas State Park. 30 minutes south. $10 I believe for one car. Free if you have an REI membership or sales receipt. Great trails- co op trail is a good loop that is walking only (no mtn bikes.) Went last weekend and the trees were awesome.
I went with your suggestion. It was beautiful. I walked the trails for about 4 hours.
Awesome! Last weekend was my first time and I was impressed with the infrastructure (well marked trails, parking) and beauty.
I was in that area today. It's all beautiful and shit right now.
Wait, free with REI membership?? How did I not know this???
I don’t know about the REI memebership. You can buy an annual state park pass which covers all state parks or use the individual REI receipt.
We have the annual parks pass, and I did know about the REI receipt before we started buying an annual pass. Had never heard that an REI membership gets you in free...
Hollywood Cemetary
I was just there this morning and it was gorgeous
The mountains of Virginia are well past peak now so Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge parkway are not good now. Best color will be east of the mountains in the mid- piedmont west of Richmond. Add, past peak above 2000’ above sea level.
Shenandoah Valley about 90 mins West of RVA if you don’t mind a drive. Just hitting peak this past week.
Forest Hill Park.
Shenandoah for sure went camping there last weekend and the scenery was breathtaking
Outside. Typically in a park. Soon though, they'll be mostly gone in a week or two.
Skyline drive
Outside mostly. Trees are everywhere. EVERYWHERE!
Blandy Expirimental farm and their Ginkgo Biloba grove. They have a Facebook and the ginkgo grove is 100% peak right now! Its 2 hours away but totally worth it if you can go in the next day or 2
Literally anywhere. Drive down any road and marvel at the beauty around you.

Rockwood park, in the trails.
Cross the river on the Potterfield Memorial Bridge.
Humpback Rock near Charlottesville is a good introduction hike for the Blue Ridge mountains
