The 2023 RVA Burlesque Festival is excited to host a variety of classes from this year's featured performers! This is a fabulous opportunity to learn from these very talented teachers during the festival weekend!

Messy On The Inside: Costuming Tips with Bearcat Betty

You don’t need to be an expert seamstress to have fabulous costumes. Break outside of the pattern and embrace the art of creating in ways you don’t learn in a standard sewing class! This lecture class will cover costuming techniques for performers looking to enhance the function and quality of their stage costumes.

Body Isolation for Burlesque Dancers with Zetta Laveau

Learn the power of body isolation to elevate some of the classic moves of burlesque like bumps, grinds and shimmies. This is a beginner friendly class including a warmup that will help you experiment with different types of isolation and learn some tips & tricks, leading to a choreography where we’ll put isolation and coordination into practice.

Heels for Queens 2.0 with Twinky Boots
1-2PM

Learn a fun, flirty dance class for all levels to help those who need a little more confidence in heels or just want to be their sassiest selves in them. Bring heels you can walk and dance in. Knee pads or long pants to protect your knees are encouraged as there will be moments going to the floor.

Silk Veil Basics with Dulce D'jour

What's the difference between a weighted and unweighted veil? Which size is best for me? How do I hold this thing? All these questions and more will be answered by bellydancer turned burlesquer Dulce D'jour! Students will learn a variety of tricks and flourishes along with combinations to help connect new movements together.
