hello rva fam- i would like to take my gf to a jewelry store in order to get our ring fingers sized but i'm not quite sure where to go- any recommendations?

is this considered ok to do if we have no intention of buying anything? i'm not sure how else to do it unless i buy a sizer off amazon lol

thanks for any advice and if you are gonna post something douchey, just don't

edit: i should have phrased my post better, she wants to go to a store for the experience, we know we can do it at home

I don't have any place to suggest, but ring finger sizers can be bought on Amazon for $4, or watch a YouTube video and do it for free, in minutes.

I'd imagine you could just walk into any of the big box jewelry stores (Kay, Zales, etc) and they'd probably be happy to size you. There are also some ring sizers online that you can print out, but just make sure your printer settings are correct!

Mumford Jewelry Buyers on Lakeside Avenue. Small, friendly, family-owned store with great customer service. No sales pressure. Staff are a delight.

My then-fiancée and I went to Schwarzschild Jewelers in Carytown. Told them we were just needing to get our fingers sized and gave them $5 for the few minutes we were there. They didn't try to sell us anything or talk us into anything else and were happy to help.

Then we bought our cheap wedding bands on Amazon. Have a few each to ourselves and swap them out depending on what we're wearing and what we're doing. Trust me, it's just easier that way not getting hung up on an expensive band and what happens if it's lost, misplaced, or stolen.

Got a nice titanium one for myself with our wedding date engraved on the inside for $14 and it's held up pretty well over the past 5 years. Also have a few silicone rings for when I'm doing yardwork or camping or anything else where it could get snagged on something.

I just went into a random jewelry store to size myself. Took 2 minutes.

Not sure what type of ring you’re getting. Sounds like wedding rings. In my humble opinion the surprise is half the part my wife wanted. I took a couple rings she wears frequently and went with one of her friends to a jewelry store and had the rings sized. I knew they fit since I discreetly asked one day how well she liked those rings.

You want to go to a store and get sized for rings just for fun?

I'm guessing the experience part is getting the personal attention and looking at all the shiny things. I get it.

If you *really* want the experience, find and buy from a locally owned shop. I did that when I got my wife's engagement ring. Ended up getting a really great piece that was surprisingly within budget and left feeling like a million bucks because the buying experience was so good and personal.

Could just go to Kohl’s or Macy’s or Target and try on (fashion jewelry) rings they have on display to get an idea of what size is most comfortable. However, I would guess if you have an especially large or small finger, those won’t help.

You should probably take your own advice, read the room, and realize this is not how you make friends here.

This type of nonsense will keep you in our moderation queue far longer until you get more subreddit karma and we might just get tired of dealing with you altogether.
