So I grew up in Richmond (city) in the 90s and 00s, but have only spent about a year there since 2010. I am going home to visit next week, but I don't know anyone who lives there apart from my mom and church friends. So...what is worth doing that has popped up in the last decade? Bonus points for things that are good solo or with a mom.
Also, where do women shop these days? I try to stock up on things when I'm home visiting, but have heard that loads of shops have closed. Are there some nice independent stores that are filling the void?
And finally, where do interesting people get coffee and/or lunch? : )

Take Mom to VMFA or Lewis Ginter, and if she is a space buff , you can check out the new Apollo exhibit next door to the VMFA at the Virginia History Museum.
