I’m sorry for your loss but a playlist sounds like a really helpful way to work through grief while also doing something to honor her

It's fun and sad at the same time. My condolences. Been there.

Smoking weed and watching the Great British Baking Show. I went to culinary school but baking was definitely not my jam... but this show makes me want to get out my piping bag and pie tins.

Anyone who likes this show, please watch The Great Pottery Throwdown. It is arguably more wholesome and also incredibly satisfying to watch.

Vajama77 t1_j8zr2h9 wrote

Never heard of it but I will definitely check it out - where do you watch it?

HBO Max. There’s one host who looks like a big tough guy but literally will get overwhelmed with emotion when judging and start crying happy tears.

Love the British Baking Show even though I'm vegan gluten free

Vajama77 t1_j8zqtcf wrote

They have both vegan bakes and gluten free bakes quite frequently!!

What's your favorite spot? Been loving La Mipla down near Hull/Chippenham but I know that's a bit south for a lot of people that live in the city proper.

We tried a new place tonight, El Paso (west end near Grapevine). New to us, the friends that we went with had been there before. We really liked it - food was great, service was quick and super nice, and they make their own tortillas. I could have eaten all 6 myself!

I have eaten three meals of bread and cheese today, and then snacked on some bread and cheese. Can man live on bread and cheese alone?

Same. My exercise bike is gathering dust because I'm a lazy ass smoking weed and watching a baking show. 🤦🏼‍♀️ March 1st I tell myself. 😬

I got wayyyy too out of shape during covid. I was never a fitness expert but I at least tried to maintain some kind of healthy routine. I've been back at it for a couple months (like 2) and I'm finally starting to feel like myself again

coconut_sorbet t1_j8zkq7a wrote

Same! I'm now three weeks into a fitness routine, and feeling better about myself even though I don't see much change in the mirror yet.

Watched the first episode of the new season of Star Trek: Picard. The recent shows have all felt like season-long movies, but this is really feeling like a movie so far.

And they brought back the First Contact theme 😭

kauthor47 t1_j8zf2pt wrote

the First Contact theme gave me goosebumps. Given how it seems this season is looking based on the trailers, I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll be able to basically ignore seasons 1 and 2

I watched Grease and ate pimento cheese and crackers with a couple of seltzers. I am not at all ashamed to know all the words to the songs, and yes, I did sing along.

I was planning on going out to see some techno tonight, but given the sharp temperature drop, now I'm indecisive. But, I also don't feel like staying in because I've felt cooped up all week. Blah.

Doing more overthinking, which I've done all day, which has made for a shitty day. Family weekend vacation tomorrow, I kinda don't wanna go but my mom would probably freak out, so I figure I can suck it up. Maybe it'll be great or something.

If anyone has any recommendations for stuff to do in Virginia Beach let me know.

Watching ‘Devotion’, which is a REALLY REALLY good movie about the first Black Navy pilot, who, along with his friend and fellow pilot, won a major air battle in the Korean War. The acting is fantastic and the air scenes are really well done!

I realized I missed the last official Hooks n Hops meetup tonight, as the original planner is giving up managing the group's social media. Meetups will still happen, I just expect there will be less news.

It's a fun group to be a part of. Meeting new people and then forgetting their names because you don't see them for weeks at a time. And then being all embarrassed because they know your name but you're floundering and just waiting until someone everyone doesn't know shows up so everyone has to introduce themselves.
