My husband and I will be moving to the area this summer. Currently where we live there's a fairly large anime store that carries a lot of Japanese imports (Demon Slayer, MHA, Sailor Moon, etc. pretty much anything you can think of). There's also a gaming store where he goes to play the My Hero Academy CCG weekly. Is there anything like either of those stores that you would recommend?

Hopefully this was the correct place/time to post. Thanks in advance for the help!

Edit: Gonna be in Ashland

I'm not sure about the anime side of things, but I've definitely seen numerous gaming stores that are located throughout the area.

Where are you located? That might help drive suggestions.

There USED to be a gaming place called The Forge, but that closed during the first part of the Pandemic unfortunately. I've heard of two card places but have never been.

As for anime shops? I know Third Eye Comics (Mechanicsville and Short Pump) and a few other comic shops carry anime and manga related merchandise. There's also apparently a placed called BoxLunch in Bon Air that apparently seems interesting, but I haven't gone down that way yet.

2nd and Charles has both an anime section and gaming section (video and board). They have 2 locations, one on broad street (closest to you) and one in midlothian (nice to go see their selection too occassionally).

They are a chain where you can buy and sell used items too!

Not a store but we also have conventions like Galaxycon that have vendors with all kinds of anime/gaming merchandise. It usually happens in March.

Yep, in the Chesterfield Towne Center mall there's a store named Box Lunch that sells a bunch of anime/disney/harry potter related merch, mostly clothes. I can't remember if they have figures for sale. No arcade machines afaik. (It's a small store)

On that same note, in that same mall, Barnes & Noble, Hot Topic, & Spencer's apparently also have a bunch of anime merch now. (Not sure how old your child is or what you want them around, but Spencer's is more geared towards late teens & adults. E.g. The back wall has sex toys & lingerie iirc.)
