Lady walks up and compliments your shoes and tries to get your number to connect you with her business coach who just made enough to retire at 37. Not sure what the play is here but just fyi.

MLM recruiter, definitely a scam.
tell us you’re from nova without telling us
Tell us you’re new to this sub without telling us lol
nice nova attitude
typical yankee wants to keep this stuff to themselves and not just let people know. move back.
Yup, definitely Amway
"Yankee" lmao people say that unironically these days?
Happened to me at Wegmans the other day! So annoying
i’ve still not encountered one of these people because i’m p sure I unintentionally look so unapproachable in public. team rbf!
Joke's on them, I own a shoe-based mlm franchise. Their footwear flirtations are all part of the plan.
Amway is almost definitely the angle, if not then perhaps Kangen or Primerica. Those all tend to have the weirdest in your face “passive income/retire early” pitches to strangers.
I met a lady at lidl in the west end who tried the same thing!
My girlfriend had the same exact thing happen to her at stony point TJs
They used to take over the Wegmans dining area about two nights a week when I worked there part time. I’m talking 30-50 young men and women. I’m talking handsome dudes and attractive ladies all well dressed and seemingly successful in what they do for their day jobs. Not a single one ever had anything they bought from the store (not even a muffin) and I wondered why management tolerated them.
Omg! No way I worked at the one on midlo for 5 years. They would buy pizza and subs sometimes and then just sit in the corner by the bathrooms and talk until 11pm. This encounter the other day was just one guy who caught me while I was shopping high as shit. I fell right into his bullshit and immediately regretted it after the interaction lol
Why are there always scammers there this is the third post I’ve been about solicitors at Target
The nova people in this thread don’t want us exposing their scams
thank gods my shoes are ugly
I also used to clock out at 11 which is around the time they would start leaving. Imagine working 8-5 only to spend your evening “networking” over Amway stuff.
I do miss this one guy (non Amway) who would show up daily (without fail) and buy a 2ltr bottle of Brisk ice tea and a whole rotisserie chicken. He would sit there with his sweet gaming laptop just gaming for hours on end. I would get there around 5:30 so I have no idea when he would start. He seemed like a really cool dude (mid 50s… ish) and I wish I’d gotten to know him. I’m assuming he either got a windfall or some sort or monthly payment that was enough for him to not work and so that was what gave him joy.
Happen to me twice in one night in the target off Broad. Both women had barely anything in their carts, complimented my shoes first and then proceeded to ask me a ton of questions about what I do for work. Something felt really off after both chats. All makes sense now lol
Had this happen to me at the Fredericksburg Walmart in November
Hahahaha this happened to me too, and I fell for it bc we were in the same industry! I really thought I was smarter than this.
They call the store Target because when you shop there, you're a target for MLM grifters.
Not just the third. That target is apparently ground zero for MLM scammers. I’ve never had a run in. Guess they don’t like me :/
So now I have to wear worn-out boots to shop. Like I didn't have enough problems already. /s
This is a common Amway script. The progression is:
Phishing old school style
That’s it. I’m done with wearing shoes.
Move back
I'll be suspicious of anyone complimenting my Crocs.
this happened to me because i work at target and i was silly enough to fall for it. she wanted to schedule a zoom with her “mentor” but wouldn’t tell me any other information and said “we’ll go over it on zoom.” luckily, by that point i had caught on but super annoying.
867-5309 Ask for Jenny.
Ok I met a woman hubby and baby at Target a few weeks ago and she has been pushing to meet for coffee. I guess this is the same right? I felt bad for her thinking that she needed an outlet after the baby lol
It's not that you're unapproachable, it's that you're a ghost! No one can see you, gentle ghost!
She’s been there for a couple years doing this. The third time she approached me I pointed out the scam.
I like to say ‘if you are doing so well you wouldn’t have to recruit people’
The same woman has been recently retired at 37 since at least 2017!

I do spend a lot of time in my crocs, so that is a very valid point 😂
Amway has a yearly event at the convention center where they flood the fucking city... Talk about scam convention
🏆🏅 lol, take my fake award
Definitely Amway. These people are ridiculous.
TBF Hayao Miyazaki and Tom Brady both retired at least dozen times.
It’s 100% Amway scammers. Has happened to me twice there but my resting bitch face quickly tells them I’m not a mark
Did she mention her career at all and try to talk toyou about it?
Not yet but only because I have not had additional convo with her due to competing priorities. She has tried calling me alot (without prompting) and she texts me out of the blue several times throughout the week. I feel like it is my personal right to not share what I am doing when she pops on my phone. But the need for he to contact me is becoming so "agressive" that i can tell there is a motive.
I really wish one of these people would approach me. I would just say the most unhinged shit and make them feel so uncomfortable. Nothing threatening, just stuff to make them question my sanity and make them NOT want to recruit me.
What is up RVA and a seemingly higher concentration of these MLM scams? I use to get hit up by these people at Kroger and target all the time then I moved away for a few years, didn’t experience this at all while I was away, moved back recently and had it happen again at carry street Kroger.
It sucks because now I don’t want to engage in polite conversation with people because I assume it’s just another pitch.
