Sonofabitch :(
Here's their insta post about it.
Big loss for downtown, it's been a go to for recommendation for visiting friends for years.
Well damn. I just moved here recently and was hoping to go there soon. Anyone have any other used bookstore recs in RI?
You can still visit it. They're open until the end of January.
Symposium Books on Westmintster downtown has a good mix of new and used books.
Paper Nautilus in Wayland is good.
This one hit hard. Cellar Stories is the first used bookstore I ever really went to and one of the places that made me really start to LOVE books. I remember going when the old owner Mike was still there and still feel very proud of the several wry conversations I managed to squeeze out of him. Their insta post about the history was really sweet. They'll be sorely missed!
Sad.
So disappointing. Losing book stores stinks. Still not over Borders leaving Garden City
Sucks. I know this is obv a PVD subreddit, but if you can make the trip to Plainville, MA (25 mins from downtown PVD) An Unlikely Story is an amazing bookstore. Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid author) spent millions on this bookstore. Chelsea Clinton did a signing last month there. It’s really great. I know, I know, it’s not within walking distance but I live in North Attleboro and it’s closest thing to the old bookstores that used to be ubiquitous
Wow this sucks to hear, I remember going to this spot as kid for comics and just recently went a couple months ago. Didn't even know they moved locations prior.
Sad. Love that place.
