Hey everyone, this is my first Reddit post ever so someone correct me if I did something wrong haha. I’m looking for a marathon coach for next years marathon May 7. Ideally a nutrition/training program for 18 weeks. I’m okay with in person or remote options. I ran the half last year in 1:52 so by no means am I an elite runner, just looking to crush a PR and feel good about my cardiovascular health in 2023. Thank you!

Just wake up and run. That's what I did for the Boston marathon. Never ran one in my life before that.

I’m only a routine 5k-er but highly recommend you reach out to Rhode Runner on North Main Street. I’m sure they would have some great resources!

I'll do it, but I'm going to tell you the same 3 things I tell all my clients:

  1. I'm not qualified for this.
  2. Seriously, you're going to have to explain what we're doing here.
  3. I don't know why you're mad at me. I saw a position. Nobody else was volunteering and I felt bad.

I ran the Providence Marathon in 2016 following a plan from this website:

https://www.halhigdon.com/training-programs/marathon-training/intermediate-1-marathon/#program-list

It provides different schedules based on your ability level and then shows how many weeks to train and how many miles to run on each day of those weeks, gradually increasing your weekly miles. I think I did either intermediate 1 or 2 (I can't remember now), but it allowed me to train well enough to complete my first marathon. There are also other sites with training plans if you search around, but this one seemed straight forward to me.

If you are looking for others to connect with, then I agree with the suggestion by u/brogaant about contacting Rhode Runner. I think they usually have a Wednesday group run and a longer Sunday group run, so you can connect with other runners.

Good luck on your marathon!

I’ve been working with Kyle for a few years now—if you decide you want to invest a coach, I’m really happy with the results I’ve been seeing.

My dad and I are both working with him to train for PVD ourselves. Good luck with the training!
