West coast i believe is the closest us soil to asia- china/japan and surrounding areas and its natural they expanded roots from that land to our west coast! Thats how i have imagined it at least.

The Chinese carryouts in DC all had signs that advertised Chinese Food, Fried Chicken and Seafood. I never had the guts to try the latter two.
