Driving home last night I hit a huge bump on Main St by Whole Foods where they’re doing road work. This morning there’s fluid under my car and transmission won’t engage. Anyone know a mechanic who works on minis? I’m new in Providence and haven’t found a mechanic yet.

Worst thing that can happen is nothing. If anything, take pictures of the area as well.
You’re out of transmission fluid. Hopefully it’s just a crack in the pan. But your car won’t drive without transmission fluid.

You might also file a complaint to recover some funds. I think N Main St is state-owned, but here are the two links that should be helpful.
In my experiment it is sometimes worth finding a independent specialist for a particular brand but most often than not a really good “generalist” mechanic can address most issues. I’d recommend Ocean State Auto on Killingly St in Johnston. It is a little bit away but you will need a tow anyhow. They are super honest, reasonably priced and the main tech drives a BMW so he is probably familiar with the MINI’s anatomy.

Not securing wheel nuts back on the wheel and having the wheel fall off while driving. If you can’t use a torque wrench or run down a checklist properly you shouldn’t be in business.
