Not sure what the issue is. You get your own lane, it’s not like you are merging, traffic is rarely moving at high speeds there.

If you have your own lane, it's not a merge.

And it's abrupt because it's temporary and they have limited space to work with. A major highway should not be passing immediately through the middle of a city.

Yes I did.

No you didn't. The answer is, it has to cut abruptly because the lane of travel has to terminate prior to entering the footprint of the old bridge. This portion of the roadway is set for demolition. I don't understand what you mean by not passing through the middle of the city part. Although I agree, the project has nothing to do with moving the highway away from the city.

Everyone's complaining now but when the project is done it will (probably) turn out fine

OP: this thread isn't going how you thought it would, is it?

In all honesty, just avoid the area if you can. It's a dedicated lane, so there's enough time to appropriately merge with traffic without needing the change your underwear afterwards.

With how many shitty cars there are in this city that can’t accelerate from 0-60 in regular time this is totally fine.

It’s that or the car can drive that fast and the driver is just too stupid too.

I've only used it a couple of times but I think it's a little easier than it has been in the past to go north. Really, the only variable that still exists and is annoy are the psychos already on the highway who are trying to cut over to the right for the 146/statehouse exit and their complete and total lack of chill.

I'm not completely following it but it's been a years long process to replace the viaduct. They built a brand new one along side the old so that to minimize disruptions. So yes it's just a replacement but in the process there will be temporary traffic patterns untill the structures are finalized.

Better than the exit in Warwick that has no merge and a full on stop, so you have to gun it to get on the highway and not die. This exit is not that bad.

I haven't been back to Providence in a few years but it's better then what I remember the Broadway exit to be like

They are redoing all the on and off ramps to cutdown on congestion like where going north where the route 6 and downtown traffic are trying to get on and others are trying to get over to 146.

You will still have i95 south/route 146 merge that will never be fixed

Whatever company is doing the signage for this construction is fucking trash I'll tell you that. Love the "2 left lanes closed ahead" sign and yet the 2 left lanes haven't been closed for awhile. Then my favorite was taking a detour and following the signs that resulted in an endless loop.
