Ew no, this is more a longshot to find puppies that might not be in shelters, obviously. Just casting a wide net
Shelters and rescues are not the same thing. Not all rescues are shelter-based, many operate with the help of foster families. Your post is suspicious because both shelters and rescues vet adopters, and when people are looking to avoid going that route, it's possible there's a reason they wouldn't pass the vetting process.
Ah had no idea. Just being curious!
Virtually every dog rescue is overrun with puppies they are trying to place in homes. Is there a reason your family members aren't going this very traditional route to puppy adoption?
I didn't realize rescues would have so many puppies, assumed mostly mature dogs. thanks!

If you want a puppy now, check with rescues. You almost certainly won’t find a bred dog on short notice and the municipal animal control sites around RI typically don’t have puppies. Note that most of the pups from rescues will probably be transports from down south. Make sure you do your homework on the different rescues because some will continue to support you and answer questions down the road and others won’t give you the time of day after you take the pup off their hands.
Whatever you do, make sure the pup gets well socialized outside the family. I highly recommend the Potter League for puppy play time and puppy obedience classes, though there are certainly other options.
We took our dog to the Rumford Pets in Cumberland on a whim this past Saturday. There were at least 30 dogs there, half puppies, all looking for homes. We stumbled upon an adoption event. It happens every last Saturday of the month there and it's sponsored by Rhode Home Rescue. I'm sure there are more events through out the state, check out Rumford Pet's website or social media pages.
This is a fantastic answer, thank you! The rescues seem to be the way to go. I'm going to reach out to them tomorrow, got their info. Appreciate the lead

Go to a rescue!!! This post sounds suspicious to me. Most people know to do that. Why aren’t your family members looking into it themselves. Are you running a dog fighting ring or something? Sorry, your post stinks of something bad.
