I’m looking for art galleries in the Providence area that I can apply to that are kind as this would be my first time applying to show my work in a gallery. If anyone has suggestions that would be great. Thank you!

You can not “apply” to have a show there. It is run by numerous curators. Mostly for established artists.

It is not. It showcases some student work in the student galleries. The rest is curated to showcase contemporary art by mid career artists and they have an extensive permanent collection dating back to the renaissance period.

AS220 was originally conceived as an open gallery where anyone could have a one-person show for the asking. Not sure how it works now but I doubt its core tenet had changed.

It has a cafe/bar. Just go check it out and ask. I'm sure the website has info too.

There are also gallery-like spaces. I once had a one-person show for a month at a bookstore / cafe space. Some banks also offer gallery space.
