Events in Providence subreddit?

Does anyone know if there's a specific community for events happening in the Providence area? I know that events and promotions are technically allowed in this sub, but it seems like people don't tend to like them and they often get a lot of downvotes. I get that people don't want to see anything that feels like an ad, but I think it would be great if there were a specific place I could go to look for events.

I'd love to support more local performers, creators, and businesses and I think having a separate Providence events sub could provide a community for event hosts and performers to find interested attendees. Also, this subreddit would have fewer of the promotion type posts that other people don't seem to want. If there's interest and there isn't already one I might start the sub myself.

tl;dr is there a subreddit for events in Providence and would you be interested in one?

If you're on Instagram, there's an account called @pvdgcal that is always posting local events on their story

IDK, I'm totally happy to have any event posted here, assuming it's real people posting events they're interested in and not just some hack promoter spamming their own stuff.

But I don't think I've noticed the latter around here at all.

This is great! Thank you for sharing it.

I will definitely be using this, but I think it’d be great to have a subreddit too. Most events websites like this have a submission process that can delay when the event is posted and can reduce or restrict the information that is posted.
