I'll also point out that the number of homicides was at only 5 until close to the end of 2022. It went from 5 to 9 in a short period of time near the end of 2022.

So, the continued increase in violence in 2023 shouldn't come as much of a surprise when considering how 2022 ended.

I see where you’re confused. “Crunching data” refers to taking a large sample size and analyzing it to produce meaningful information, not reducing a sample size to fit your assumptions.
