Swan Liquors on Hope Street is unfortunately closing. I chatted with one of the owners today and her husband has been very sick and recently had surgery and she can't manage the store on her own. She mentioned that she has a lot of merchandise she is struggling to sell in order to properly vacate the store—everything from cases of wine to shelves and old painted mirrors.

I just wanted to post here to encourage anyone who might be interested in any of this kind of thing to stop by and see if you can help them out. They seem to be giving away some stuff for free as well because they just need it to go somewhere. They've always been very kind and friendly and I think they could really use some community support right now!

Thanks for posting. I’ve only been a few times as I have greatly reduced my drinking but they’re within walking distance and I had decent experiences. May have to find an excuse to pop in

I have only been a few times, because I live walking distance to the East Side Pharmacy that is now just a liquor store. The man behind the counter was always super nice. Maybe I’ll stop in this week and do my part to clean shelves.

Whoa. I remember when they started running Swan Liquors, I think they bought it from previous owners. Back then, Swan was one of the only places in the area you could buy alcohol.

That’s awful. Was wondering why the sudden close. How is she selling the merchandise they’re trying to offload? Passing by it only looks like there’s a few pieces of decor in the window.

Oh man, they’ve been open since I was a kid! Back when that part of the East Side was actually affordable. That’s a shame, I hope things work out for them.

I passed by a few minutes ago, on the way to Seven Stars. There was a dude scrambling out with a lot of wine. I don’t now how marked down everything is, but it reminded me of Super Market Sweep. The place is getting wiped OUT.

Spoke with the woman and told her I’ll miss her, and her husband - I hope his health improves. I wish them the best.

I'm not really sure to be honest, she seemed pretty distressed when we chatted and didn't seem to have a real plan in place—I think more or less it's an anything goes kind of situation, seems best to maybe just stop in when they're open and make an offer for whatever you want!
