Well, if you aren’t feeling Verizon either. I might have an aol 4.0 cd lying around somewhere.

I've had a lot of success calling up Comcast and telling them to end my service because I'm going to switch to Verizon to save money. Suddenly the Comcast people come up with another "special promotional offer," and I say "well... okaaaayyyy."

I've had great service from FiOS. It's consistent and fast. When they raised my rate I called and asked for my old rate and they put it back too.

Internet providers are not city wide. It depends on your neighborhood, really. You can go to https://broadbandnow.com and enter your zip code and get the available providers. However, not all will have cable run in your neighborhood - you are still going to have to call or go to their websites to see if it is available.

Like a few others have said, Fios is the best choice if you have it near you. It is a bit pricey though but never once had a issue with it.

I've also heard good things about T-Mobile's cellular internet. But haven't used it.

I’ve been considering this. $30 a month too.

My issue with Comcast is they’ve sent 5 techs out and no change. I actually had to upgrade my speed to 1000mbps to be able to get to close to 350 consistently.

FIOS isn’t that expensive really. I have the 300mbps plan. I have my own modem so it’s only $39.99/mo. Unless you have some very specific situation or like 10 people using the internet at the same time in your house, 300mbps is great.

T-Mobile is a good suggestion though. I think they have a trial where you can try it out for free. If Verizon every raised prices I would try them out.

FiOS and Comcast are the only 2 real choices. I have had FIOS for the last 2 years, but have had Comcast before that. I basically bounce between them whenever one raises the price outrageously. I think FIOS for strictly internet is a better, more consistent service these days. I pay $59.99 for 600 up/down and use my own router so that's the fee out the door. Not quite gigabit but good enough for me and my partner and our many devices. Haven't really had any notable outages so far.

I switched from Xfinity to FiOS a few months ago, it costs me the same and my internet is more consistent.
