It's fine. I was there the other day, no issues. Didn't even consider that it might have been unsafe.

Pretty safe.

If you are particularly worried just don’t go on a Friday or Saturday night.

I usually only go there for B&N/Charbucks during the week, and it's pretty quiet and peaceful then. No idea how weekends are.

I go all the time during the day. Love me some Claire's. I just wouldn't go on a Friday or Saturday night.

There hasn't been a zombie there in like 40 years. I'd say it's on the upswing.

The mall is fine during the day. You're more likely to be harassed by a random old person for being in the way of their power walking than you are to be bothered by "teens from the streets."

Driving there from either direction on Penn Hwy is almost certainly much more dangerous.

If you google 'Monroeville Mall Shooting' you will see a few incidents through the years. Shit happens there, no doubt, but I still go there when I need something.

It’s safe IMO. However, I think that as a mall..it’s pretty boring.

It's about as safe as any comparable shopping location, that said I would avoid it late at night.

It can definitely get crazy on weekends especially at night. Lots of loitering from people looking to cause trouble. I was trying to visit the movie theater more often towards the tail end of the pandemic to support the cinema, and police were there constantly at all entrances of the mall. It was for stuff like shoplifting, fights, graffiti etc. not shootings mind you, but still. I wouldn't call it safe. It was the same at the Waterfront and Pittsburgh Mills though.

Are people really to the point where the news scared people off of malls???

If you go to the Monroeville Mall, you WILL die.

...I mean, sure, it might take 60 or 70 years for it to happen, but you will die if you choose to go to Monroeville Mall.

People already fled to the ‘burbs, now they are afraid of the malls because they got too urban.
