The Catholic Church in pittsburgh should be ashamed of itself, among other things, but for keeping Epiphany, because the white people didn’t want to go up to the “black” church one block up. The official reasoning was something along the lines of, this red brick church will remind people of god while they go to the arena, or some lines like that. They also got a ton of money for tearing down the support buildings around it.

I’m not saying old buildings aren’t worth preserving, but they keep closing churches left and right, what’s one more.

Leaving aside that there's two different religions involved... claiming that the white Catholic people went to their Catholic church instead of the black Methodist one is a bit like completing that the basketball players refuse to play in the racquetball room. They're similar spaces, but not the same.

I mean, the Catholic church probably got to stay in part due to white skin and money, but linking the two regions together as interchangeable wouldn't win you fans on either side.

I wasn’t linking the two religions, it was Epiphany and St. Benedict the Moor
