Down south, like Biloxi and panhandle Florida, they have Walmart Neighborhood Markets. Instead of a full blown store, it's like our Get Go Marketplace. Gas and almost an entire food section compared to a normal Walmart, but the other half is minimal housing and vehicle sections. It was our place to shop while visiting family down there. I don't understand why we're lacking places like that up here. Especially within the city limits. Edit, spelling

Space in residential areas that makes it cost-prohibitive, in addition to already intense competition. Dollar Generals and Aldis are much smaller footprints and beat Walmart on some prices. Giant Eagle also can compete if a Neighborhood Market doesn't have departments like a deli, bakery, pharmacy, etc.
